Jalmari Helander wrote and directed the historical action movie Sisu, which takes place in 2022. The movie, which is set in World War II-era Finnish Lapland, is on a gold prospector trying to protect his loot from a vicious Schutzstaffel officer-led Nazi killing squad.[3] Jorma Tommila, Aksel Hennie, Jack Doolan, and Mimosa Willamo all appear in the movie.[3][4]

The movie was filmed in Lapland in 2021.[5][6] with a about €6 million budget.[2] The 1982 American action movie First Blood and the actual Finnish military shooter Simo Häyhä served as major inspirations for the movie, according to director Helander.[7] Due to the film's very brutal action, the John Wick flicks have also been frequently compared to it.
International distribution rights were purchased by Sony Pictures Worldwide Acquisitions[3][4][9][10], while North American rights were purchased by Lionsgate.[11] On September 9, 2022, the movie had its debut at the Toronto International Film Festival's Midnight Madness section.[10][12] The movie had its world debut on January 27, 2023 in Finland, and on April 28, 2023, it will have a limited theatre run in America.
Premise:
Aatami Korpi is a gold prospector and a veteran of the Winter War who lives alone in the distant Lapland wilderness at the end of 1944, when the Lapland War is in full swing. He pans and mines for gold. His efforts eventually pay off when he finds a significant gold deposit. Aatami leaves after gathering a sizable number of gold nuggets to bring his riches to the closest settlement. Aatami discovers a 30-man Wehrmacht platoon along the route that is being led by the cruel SS Obersturmführer Bruno Helldorf and his lieutenant Wolf and that is burning communities while retreating and has captured hundreds of people. Despite Bruno and the platoon's initial lack of interest in Aatami, their attitude changes when they learn of his gold, and they make an effort to steal it from him. But they didn't know that,
Because of his prowess in battle, Aatami earned the moniker "The Immortal" (Koschei) during the Winter War. Attempts by others to capture him and take his gold end in bloody battles.
