In January 2022, it was made public that Nida Manzoor, working with Working Title, Focus Features, and Parkville Pictures, was filming a feminist action comedy starring two British-Pakistani sisters in London. The comedy's tone and voice were said to be inspired by Manzoor's groundbreaking and BAFTA, Peabody, and Rose d'Or award-winning sitcom series We Are Lady Parts.[3] It was revealed that the project's London-based filming was completed in February 2022. Tim Bevan and Eric Fellner for Working Title and Olivier Kaempfer and John Pocock for Parkville Pictures are responsible for producing it. Focus Features had the rights to distribution.

Release:

Polite Society premiered on January 21, 2023 at the Sundance Film Festival, March 12, 2023 at the Glasgow Film Festival, and April 28, 2023 at the United Kingdom and the United States, respectively.

Reception:

The movie has a 93% approval rating on the review aggregate Rotten Tomatoes based on 53 reviews, with an average rating of 7.2/10. The opinion of the reviewers on the website is as follows: "Polite Society throws, kicks, and punches the genre etiquette book out the window to deliver a fun film that blends Bollywood splendour and British wryness."[10] With a weighted average rating of 75 points out of 100 based on 16 reviews, the movie has received "generally positive reviews" on Metacritic.[11]

It was "rollicking," "crafty," and "fresh," and "all done with infectious pep," according to Robbie Collin of the Daily Telegraph. The bouts themselves were "witty, lucid, crunchy, slick," and Kansara was a "blatant star-in-the-making."[
