 (C6H10O5)n (Cellulose) Gram to mole Conversion

To convert gram weight to mole we need to find first what is the molecular weight of (C6H10O5)n (Cellulose). Suppose the molecular weight of (C6H10O5)n is M((C6H10O5)n). Now we have to divide the gram weight by molecular mass of Cellulose. Then the result gives us a mole number.

mole number of (C6H10O5)n (Cellulose) = {(grams weight of (C6H10O5)n) ÷ Molecular mass of (C6H10O5)n}

= {w÷ M((C6H10O5)n)} [suppose w is grams weight of Cellulose ]

Example: Suppose a sample of (C6H10O5)n has 164.14 grams. Now we have to calculate the mole number of the (C6H10O5)n.

Ans: mole = (163.41 ÷ 162.1406 )

= 1.0078290076637 mole of Cellulose.

(C6H10O5)n (Cellulose) mole to grams conversion:

If we know the mole number of Cellulose and we want to calculate grams then we again need molecular mass of (C6H10O5)n. We know that the molecular mass of (C6H10O5)n is 162.1406. To calculate grams we need to multiply mole numbers with molecular mass of Cellulose. If molecular mass of (C6H10O5)n is M((C6H10O5)n) and mole number is m((C6H10O5)n) then

m((C6H10O5)n) = (mole number of (C6H10O5)n × molecular mass )

= {m((C6H10O5)n) × M((C6H10O5)n)}

Example: A sample of (C6H10O5)n has 1.416 mole. We have to calculate how much grams of Cellulose it equivalent is.

Ans: Here mole number of (C6H10O5)n, m((C6H10O5)n) = 1.416

Molecular weight of (C6H10O5)n, M((C6H10O5)n) = 162.1406

So, gram weight = ( 1.416 × 162.1406 )

= 229.5910896 gram

How to Calculate Molecular Mass of Cellulose ((C6H10O5)n):

For calculating molecular mass of Cellulose we need atomic mass of carbon, hydrogen and oxygen. We know that atomic masses of carbon (C), hydrogen (H) and oxygen (O) are 12.011, 1.00797 and 15.9994 respectively. So molecular mass of Cellulose = [{atomic mass of carbon (C) × 6}  + {atomic mass of hydrogen (H) × 10} + {atomic mass of oxygen (O) × 5}]

= {(12.011 × 6) + (1.00797 × 10 ) + (15.9994 × 5)}

= 162.1427 gram
